A Clinical Analysis of Patients with Acute Generalized Peritonts with Acute Generalized Peritonitis

Abstract
The present report is a clinical analysis of 315 patients with acute generalized peritonitis who
were admitted to the Department of General Surgery of K.P.N.U. Hospital from Sept. 1965 to
Aug. 1970.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. Among 315 cases, 93 cases (30.5%) were peptic ulber perforation, 78 cases (24.7%) typhoid
perforation, 55 cases (17.5%) perforated appendicitis and 49 cases (15.6%) were traumatic inte
stinal perforation respectively.
2. The majority of the above described patient were the 2nd to 4th decade male.
3. The seasonal prevalence were found at peptic ulcer perforation in spring and autumn, and
typhoid perforation in late summer time.
4. More than two third of patients visited the hospital 24 in hours after onset.
5. The overall mortality of the cases were 13.3%, the morbity 24% and average hospital days
were two weeks.
